David B. Bogy is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, widely considered to be a pioneer in hard disk drive tribology.

In 1994, Bogy was elected as a member into the National Academy of Engineering for research and professional leadership in the mechanics of computer technology.
